Reflection of the IDET Class
Navigating the Tech Wave: A Reflection on My IDET Class Journey
Hey fellow learners and tech enthusiasts! As the curtain falls on my time in the Instructional Design and Educational Technology (IDET) class, I wanted to hit pause and share a little journey reflection. Buckle up; it's been a wild ride!
Diving into the Tech Abyss
From day one, IDET plunged me into the fascinating abyss of educational technology. The class wasn't just about learning; it was about navigating the tech wave sweeping through education. Theories, tools, and trends – we explored them all, and trust me, it was like strapping on a jetpack for an educational adventure.
ISTE Standards: My North Star
The ISTE Standards for Designers weren't just words on a page; they were my guiding light. Learner, collaborator, analyst, facilitator, advocate – I wore these hats throughout the semester. These standards became my compass, pointing me toward a future where tech and education dance hand in hand.
Metro Elementary Chronicles
A significant chapter in this tech tale was scripted at Metro Elementary. The StarHero Journey project was like our magnum opus. It wasn't just a lesson; it was a canvas where technology, creativity, and student empowerment collided. The unexpected twists, the green screen adventures, and the joy of seeing students embrace tech – Metro Elementary became my tech haven.
TAMUCC's iCreate Lab: A Tech Wonderland
And then came the day we stepped into Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's iCreate Lab. Gadget galore – 3D printers, green screens, crickets, and poster-making machines. It was like a tech playground where ideas came to life. The experience wasn't just about gadgets; it was about unleashing possibilities, and I left feeling like a tech wizard.
Qualities for My Future Classroom
Beyond the tech, this semester gifted me qualities I'll carry into my future classroom:
Adaptability: Tech glitches and unexpected twists taught me the importance of adapting on the fly.
Inclusivity: Tech should be for everyone, and my classroom will echo with the voices of all students.
Creativity: The StarHero Journey sparked creativity, and I want my classroom to be a hub of innovative ideas.
Collaboration: From class discussions to Metro Elementary projects, collaboration was the heartbeat of our success.
Tech Literacy: I've gone from tech curious to tech literate. My future students won't just use tech; they'll understand it.
Reflective Practice: Reflecting on my journey has become second nature, and I'll instill this in my students.
Innovation: The iCreate Lab was a reminder that teaching is an ever-evolving journey. Innovation will be my constant companion.
Empowerment: Students are at the center of my future classroom. Empowering them to own their learning will be a priority.
Conclusion: Riding the Tech Wave into the Future
As I sign off from my IDET class, I'm not just armed with knowledge; I'm armed with a tech toolkit and a vision for an engaging, tech-infused classroom. The journey doesn't stop here; it's a launchpad into a future where education and technology intertwine, creating a symphony of learning.
